Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RfP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – This has been temporarily ECP'd before due to WP:ARBPIA violations, I think it makes sense to switch to indefinite protection because it continues to see NPOV violations. Smallangryplanet (talk) 11:38, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Please also enforce as WP:GS/RUSUKR and WP:GS/SCW. IanDBeacon (talk) 13:05, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose - 95% of the article does not pertain to Palestine-Israel or Russia-Ukraine. It is said in The ArbPIA ruling that the article has to pertain to Palestine or Israel the majority of the time, small references is not sufficient for permanent ECP protection. If that was the case we would have to protect the articles: "Mediterranean Sea" and "Red Sea" and "Levant" and all of these articles that have NEVER experienced disruption and would just be unnecessary to protect them. ContentiousTopicsEditor (talk) 18:55, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@ContentiousTopicsEditor: That doesn't preclude an indefinite XCP for reasons unrelated to being a primary article in the PIA area. Persistent all-CTOPs% POV-pushing would also justify it. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 18:57, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Jéské Couriano So small vandalism is rough to justify indef ECP protection? That's ridiculous. ContentiousTopicsEditor (talk) 18:58, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@ContentiousTopicsEditor: That's for the responding admin to determine, not us. I was merely pointing out your argument was a bit lacking. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 19:02, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Atleast 1 month, because there is a potential of high IP Vandalism this month on this Article. UNITED BLASTERS (talk) 12:35, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Recurring vandalism by multiple IPs. Borgenland (talk) 12:52, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Bbb23 (talk) 01:38, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Disruption from multiple IP addresses. JeffSpaceman (talk) 13:45, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – This article is constantly being reverted due to incorrect or vandalising IP edits. I don't know why this hasn't been requested before as this has been a consistant problem for a long time. CaptainGalaxy 13:47, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Bbb23 (talk) 01:39, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Subject of a current news story after fatal crash. Needs to be protected from over-enthusiastic IP editors who are making too many errors. Spartathenian (talk) 14:05, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. A09|(talk) 14:56, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IP's keep adding non-notable relatives. One was blocked, but it hasn't stopped IP hopping. Nswix (talk) 15:09, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. Aqurs1 (talk) 15:27, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent vandalism. Moxy🍁 15:32, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary pending changes: BLP policy violations – I decided to request pending changes protection here, but it's borderline for a full semiprotection request. Was reviewing the series of edits during the last pending changes period and it appeared to have a moderately heavy level of reverts for vandalism, unsourced content and BLP violations during those two months. MPFitz1968 (talk) 16:15, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: It's clear that pending changes protection is not enough. The article has recently been the focus of a YouTube video created by the subject, resulting in high levels of new user activity, most of which is unconstructive. Hemiauchenia (talk) 16:29, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Semi-protection - Rash of new accounts readding copyright-violating material (either the text or image from Bangladesh's Armed Forces Division website). While I presume these are sockpuppets of MGBD (talk · contribs) based on behaviour, I would rather semi the page given his tendency towards being persistent. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 17:23, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IP editor is closing multiple XfDs. Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 17:43, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Sock puppet editing that has now extended to breaking into old accounts to edit the protected pages. SummersRising (talk) 18:05, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: BLP policy violations – Disruptive editing and BLP violations. Jfire (talk) 18:43, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Upgrade from the previous 1-year semi. Leonidlednev (TCL) 18:58, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: Per WP:RUSUKR. BilletsMauves€500 19:45, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Disruptive IP edits in the past two weeks. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 20:12, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Ymblanter (talk) 22:14, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Please make this protection indefinite. IanDBeacon (talk) 00:21, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: IP address repeatedly trying to vandalize this article. Kaito-san (talk/contribs) 22:44, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blocked. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 01:35, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent Disruptive Editing. 🌙Eclipse (she/they/all neostalkedits) 23:45, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent Disruptive Editing. TylerBurden (talk) 00:28, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Pending changes: Persistent vandalism – Subject is the Prime Minister of New Zealand, so there is persistent vandalism. Pending changes won't stop the vandalism but will at least prevent it being visible to readers before it ends up being reverted. 1 good edit by an IP recently makes me unwilling to consider semi. Traumnovelle (talk) 00:34, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: WP:GS/SCW&ISIL restrictions. Skitash (talk) 00:41, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content. Pending failing once again. 2601AC47 (talk·contribs·my rights) Isn't a IP anon 00:53, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite full protection: Persistent sockpupetry by user accounts. AGST Phantasy (talk) 01:10, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Really funny of you to say that... ApexParagon (talk) 01:15, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If the Mobilize Limo page still sockpuppetry please upgrade the protection to fully-protected AGST Phantasy (talk) 01:28, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I support you trying to prevent yourself from making disruptive edits on sock accounts. It's rare that the vandal themselves is the one requesting page protection lmao ApexParagon (talk) 01:30, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
    upgrade protection to fully-protected AGST Phantasy (talk) 01:36, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: The protection is not necessary. The Club has been refounded - as of 30 May 2023. We have multiple social medias and digital photographs supporting my claim. Please reevaluate your decision on the matter. 92.22.122.134 (talk) 19:32, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

If you're editing on behalf of the club, register an account and DISCLOSE. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 19:35, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm the administrator who protected the article. There's been an outbreak of edit warring and vandalism on the article. There's an insistence the club has reformed, without providing any reliable sources to sustain this information. The IP who made this request has, among other edits, posted things like this and this. The former is obviously opinion, and the latter is completely uncited. This is not the first time this article has been protected from this sort of disruption. The last protection lasted a year, and didn't put a stop to this disruption. I considered a much longer protection, but decided to keep it at three months and see what happened. Here, we have the first 'what happened'. I recommend decline. --Hammersoft (talk) 19:57, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

I like to edit this article to provide more up to date research regarding the epidemiology of Autism as well as include more information in the public section at the bottom of the page Kmrsdep (talk) 22:21, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

If you have suggestions for improving the article you can make them on the article talk page, the talk page is not protected. Be sure to read WP:MEDRS. — Malcolmxl5 (talk) 01:30, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
